The paintings always reflect in some way the performances I am working on. I am most interested in creating work which is about rhythm, t exture and place, be it the land or the mindscape. I am not interested in painting what a photograph can create but rather a feeling unique to my painting experience. I have always painted as a solitary activity, giving me a balance from the people-based work of performance. Sometimes the paintings are incorporated directly within the performance and other times they are the build-up of ideas from the two dimensions into the multidimensional performance arena.
